Energy Price Cap Calculator

Use this calculator to estimate the effect of price cap changes on gas and electricity prices.

The energy regulator sets the price cap based on the usage of an average user. They publish this as 12,000 kWh gas and 2,900 kWh electricity per year. Using a ratio of cost of gas to electricity and standing charges per day, they also publish the individual unit prices.

We have built a quick calculator using these figures to allow you to enter any price cap figure or select from the known price caps over the next 12 months. The calculator will then estimate gas and electric per kilowatt hour (kWh) prices as well as the effect this has on common usage scenarios.
